KS3
At Key Stage 3 students study either French or Spanish. We have four language lessons a fortnight.
We strive to make the lessons relevant, interesting and fun. Students learn about things such as buying food in French, booking a hotel and a campsite. Students practice listening, reading and speaking skills in every lesson. We use different teaching styles to meet students' needs.
All our rooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard and both teachers are native speakers.
Students are given homework once a week.
"French is useful for me because I am going on holiday next month and I will use what I have learnt in lessons" Matthew Platt – Year 9
“I really enjoyed the French lessons because they are fun and dynamic" Georgina Bwye – Year 9
" We love using the interactive white board and talk to people in French because it is fun" Daniel Boorn – Year 9
KS4
Students can continue studying either French or Spanish at Key Stage 4.
We aim to give students the skills to communicate, to understand and to empathise with other people. Students learn how to deal with a variety of real-life situations and practice language skills such as formal and informal language which prepares them for the workplace.
We use Edexcell examination board and students are tested on their listening, reading and speaking skills. They also have to prepare 3 pieces of coursework.
We have excellent exam results: 67% of our students achieved a grade A*-C.
